I am so excited to share the first part of this in-studio maternity session! It is so different than anything I’ve done before as an Asheville maternity photographer. I absolutely loved stepping out of my comfort zone and trying something new with this dancer-inspired maternity session!

Up until now, I mainly photograph maternity sessions outdoors surrounded by our beautiful Asheville scenery. But when this beautiful mama and local artist based here in Asheville reached out about a studio session, I was thrilled!

Sara’s talents go beyond singing and songwriting- she’s a talented dancer and instrumentalist, too. You can get to know her more here! She wanted to incorporate her passion for dancing into her maternity portraits which was SO fun for me to document behind the lens.

I just love the light in this session and how its falling on Mama’s beautiful bump. There’s just something so classic about these images- especially with the contrast of Mama wearing black. I may be biased, but the black and white images are my favorite! She looks strong yet graceful.

Of course, we had to add Dad in for a few photos at the end! These two were so fun to work with. It was the most joyful and relaxed maternity session! I’m so thankful Sara let me bring her vision to life!
