QUESTION:

WHAT DOES A NEWBORN SESSION LOOK LIKE?

ANSWER:

  • I have a simple and minimal approach to focus on baby and all posing is baby-led. The session will be slow paced as we take our time and allow baby to feed, cry, have diaper changes, or whatever needs to be done. I provide swaddles and blankets. If your session will be at home, I bring the equipment I need to achieve a timeless look. In home sessions generally take place in the master bedroom. I ask that you strip your bed down to simple white sheets.
All of my Mamas have the option to wear one of my dresses and have hair and makeup professionally done. I have a Pinterest board filled with ideas if you would like to provide your own outfit and I provide a style guide for the rest of the family.

QUESTION:

do you use props?

ANSWER:

  • My work is minimal and clean to focus on baby’s features, as well as the family connection. I provide swaddles and blankets to gently bundle baby. We will strip baby of clothes and take some detailed shots of hands, toes, wrinkles, hair, etc. I can use any bonnets, bows, or any family sentimental item that is requested and provided.

QUESTION:

WILL MY Other children BE PHOTOGRAPHED IN THE NEWBORN SESSION?

ANSWER:

  • I would love to document your growing family together. You’ll want to remember how small they all looked together; their snuggles, kisses, little laughs and all. I do my best to prepare you beforehand and to ensure the kids are entertained and happy.

QUESTION:

WHAT IF MY BABY IS AWAKE OR CRYING?

ANSWER:

  • Newborn photos of your baby awake are quite beautiful; it allows me to photograph the eyes and emotions for you to enjoy later on. As for crying, babies cry, it’s how they communicate. Don’t worry, we will do what we can to settle the baby with swaddles, milk, gentle sways, and I’ll keep documenting the moments. Some of my clients favorite photographs are in these moments when mom is whispering in baby’s ear or dad is gently kissing baby to a calm

QUESTION:

what are heirlooms?

ANSWER:

  • Heirlooms are objects that are passed down in the family for generations. Think of the beautiful polaroid photo of your grandparents snuggled up on the couch with your mom as a newborn. Isn’t it wonderful to have the ability to look back on your family’s growing life or to have memories printed to enjoy and remember as you age? I love the excitement from my children when they look through their newborn photos and exclaim, “what! thats me?” I can only imagine how much sweeter these moments will mean as we grow older.

I believe in high quality prints and heirlooms that allow you to enjoy these memories for generations. With 5×7 prints enclosed in an heirloom photo box, framed photographs on the walls, and beautifully handcrafted linen albums to display on your coffee table for friends and family to flip through, we can find the perfect heirloom for you and your family to enjoy and pass down.

QUESTION:

DO I HAVE TO PURCHASE HEIRLOOMS OR PRINTS THROUGH YOUR PROFESSIONAL LAB?

ANSWER:

  • Although my desire is for you to turn these images into heirlooms, you do not need to purchase them through me.
I photograph with heirlooms in mind. I strive to be intentional and thoughtful with the images I create and deliver to you. I hope they are enjoyed for years and not saved on a hard drive and forgotten or accidentally deleted and lost.

QUESTION:

DO YOU OFFER OTHER SESSION TYPES: ELOPEMENTS, BRANDING, ETC.?

ANSWER:

  • The short answer is yes!
I’m always happy to book an elopement if inquired ahead of time.
I love the challenge to think creatively for another artist or brand. This could be a one time social media session or we can put together a few shoots for you to use as marketing material.
Starting in 2020 I will only take on a small number of engagements and elopements as my time is now being centered on my niche to better serve myself and my family.

I do except a small handful of Fresh 48 sessions throughout the year, however, I am not currently accepting birth clients.
